Early Childhood League Program
After 2 years of consultation & development, our Early Childhood Program is ready for roll out into schools. With its’ official launch due for August 2012, National Development Officers across the country are taking the new initiative to schools with the focus on providing a positive Rugby League experience for 4-8 year olds.
This program uses story based learning to assist the children to grasp concepts and skills of Rugby League. Lesson plans have been designed alongside the story and include fun evasion and skill development activities. This program has been trialled across Australia throughout 2010 and 2011 and is ready to roll out in 2012.
The 3 week Early Years program utilises a short story about a farm, two cattle dogs and their disagreement over whether cows or sheep should get to eat green grass within a paddock. Each chapter leads on to a series of Rugby League games that relate to the story so that the children can put theory to practice under the guidance of ARL Development staff.
The lessons are modified, non-contact, safe, age appropriate and progressive whilst introducing basic Rugby League Concepts in a fun, story based environment. The Prep/Kindy to Grade 2 program has received extremely positive feedback from students and teachers alike!
